Sunflower herbs and spices are used by the Indian subcontinent to treat a wide variety of ailments including arthritis, heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, rickets and malaria.
It’s believed that sunflower extract can reduce inflammation and reduce pain in the joints and muscles.
The herb is also used to treat asthma and eczema.
A small study in India found that the sunflower tea extract significantly reduced pain and inflammation in the lungs.
“There’s no reason to believe that these results would be transferable to the broader Indian population,” said Dr. Anurag Pachauri, a professor of pharmacology at the Indian Institute of Science, who was not involved in the study.

But it’s not just for arthritis.
It can be used to improve skin care and skin regeneration, according to the Cochrane review.
Some sunflower extracts also have anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.
There’s also evidence that sunflowers can help lower the risk of osteoporosis.
“These findings suggest that there is potential to treat chronic disease through the addition of the sunflower extracts to traditional Indian medicines,” the review said.
So far, the research is limited to a small sample size and not enough information to determine if sunflower herb treatment is beneficial for people with arthritis, eczemas and psoriasis.
