Posted April 18, 2018 05:24:13The cost of the most common types of herbs in Australia is among the lowest in the world, according to a new study published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.
The researchers looked at the cost of a typical herbal remedy in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
They found that the average cost of each herb ranged from $1.50 to $2.00 a gram.
“It is often hard to estimate the cost, because of the relatively small number of products available,” study author Dr Andrew Klem, of the University of Adelaide, said.
“This is because a large number of herbal remedies are not easily identifiable, and some are not sold in bulk in pharmacies.”
The main reason for this is that they do not have any generic name.
“Most are not labelled in the UK and the US because it is difficult to find a good label that is easily accessible to the public.”
There are several herbal remedies that are not readily available and therefore are not worth the price, so they can be more costly.
“The average cost per gram of a common herbal remedy was $1,813, compared with $2,897 for generic equivalents.”
We believe that the cost for the common herbal remedies is the lowest it has been in over 20 years, and this is due to the relatively low volume of available products,” Dr Klem said.
Dr Klem says that the lowest cost of one herbal remedy is likely to be the most commonly used one.”
Given that common herbal preparations are so easily available, we expect that the prices of these are low,” he said.
The findings from the study also show that the most expensive herbs in the study were those that contained a high amount of sulphur, such as clove, asparagus, or mint.
The cost for sulphur-containing herbs was $4,082.
The cost for a low-sulphur-content herb was $2
